Two papers in one month in Electrophoresis!

February saw the publication of two works in successive issues of the journal Electrophoresis, both on electrohydrodynamic particle focussing. The first, led y Nazim Mohtar, shows how the focussing of particles onto electrode pads for sensing can be optimised, but also proves fascinating insight into the mechanism of collection, which is heavily influenced by medium viscosity. The second paper, led by Kai, looks at the use of the technique in the presence of flow, to sheperd particles to one side of a channel. The technique looks capable of concentrating up to seven times in continuous outlet flow, with scope for extension by cascading. As usual, more details on the Journal Papers page.
